About the role

With the growth of our organisation, we are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join our Melbourne team reporting directly to the State Manager.

Be part of a professional, friendly & dedicated team located in our depot in Footscray. As part of the role you will liaise with our driving team on a day to day basis and be the face that drivers become familiar with as their first point of contact; you should be a people person who can effectively manage and influence others throughout your duties.

Duties will include but will not be limited to:

  • Overseeing the personnel needs of our driving team including coaching, disciplinary, training employees, and evaluating employee performance and reviews.
  • Provide routine probationary service monitoring and assessment of our driving team.
  • Maintaining a high level of training and support in developing driver skills, knowledge and ability in procedures and passenger vehicle operations.
  • Assist in establishing work procedures and provide support to the State Manager across all areas of the business.
  • Ensuring company policy, programs, procedures and processes are complied with, reviewed and reported on.
  • Reporting, investigating any accidents or adverse driving report and documentation of issues associated to operational or mechanical requirements.
  • Dealing with external calls and issues, which may include complaints and queries need the ability to problem solve to deal with staff/customer enquiries complaints.
  • Organise training workshops/presentations as required to our driving team.
  • Ensure that the business continues to operate having regard to its obligations under applicable WHS legislation.

To be considered for this role the successful applicant will have:

  • Excellent knowledge of the Bus and Coach Industry, and understand the drivers working time regulations and have basic knowledge of the principles of scheduling.
  • Experience and knowledge of VIC Roads legislation including inspections and compliance audits.
  • Current knowledge of statutory requirements including: Work Health & Safety Act 2011 & Transport Passenger regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication techniques with a logical thinking approach.
  • Well-developed customer service skills with the ability to successfully resolve complaints and take appropriate action to avoid recurrence.
  • Excellent computer and keyboard skills.
  • A valid & current heavy vehicle license with a clean driving record.
  • Excellent people management and leadership skills.
  • A high level of attention to detail & work to tight deadlines.
  • A proven track record of management, with certificate IV Training & Assessment or similar tertiary qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in the Bus, Coach or Transport industry.
