Fitness to Drive
Driver fatigue is one of the most significant causes of road crashes involving commercial vehicles. Our professional drivers undergo a daily fitness-to-drive check prior to starting each shift. This means physically ensuring that they are fit and healthy to drive.
Checks also include an alcohol breath-test.
Murrays leave nothing to chance, with strict Work Health and Safety policies and a team dedicated to safety management, you are in safe hands.
Safety is at the core of our business, and we take driver fatigue very seriously.
The Murrays Online Management System provides our rostering staff with tools that highlight fatigue standards, and identify any potential breaches of fatigue regulations.
All operations staff are trained in fatigue management requirements and utilise the Murrays Online Management System to ensure constant compliance with relevant fatigue regulations.
Daily Alcohol Breath Testing
Murrays have a zero tolerance to alcohol policy, with a blood alcohol reading of 0.00 required. The safety of our staff, passengers and the public is paramount, and all drivers are subject to daily alcohol breath tests prior to the commencement of their shift, together with regular drug testing.
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing conducted by a third party
- Compulsory daily testing prior to commencement of each shift
- Random drug and alcohol testing conducted by a third party
Driver performance is continually monitored to meet strict safety standards, customer expectations and to improve driver performance.
Management observation and feedback as well as our In Vehicle Monitoring System (IVMS – Mix Telematics) assist our driver managers by providing live, real-time data on driver behaviour including:
- Engine revs
- Harsh acceleration
- Harsh braking
- Harsh cornering
