Macquarie Pass Roadworks

Macquarie Pass – Illawarra Highway (South Coast)

Please be advised that ongoing slope stabilisation roadworks continue to take place on the Illawarra Highway at Macquarie Pass, between Tongarra Mine Road and Mount Murray Road.

Schedule:
From Sunday 31 August 2025 (ongoing, no end date currently provided)

Road closures:

  • Tuesday: 8:00pm – 4:00am (both directions closed)
  • Wednesday: 8:00pm – 4:00am (both directions closed)
  • Thursday: 8:00pm – 4:00am (both directions closed)

What to expect:

  • Full road closures in both directions during the above times
  • Heavy vehicles over 12 tonnes and over 10 metres (including vehicles towing caravans or trailers) will be detoured via the Hume Motorway, Picton Road, and the M1 Princes Motorway
  • Detours may add up to 20 minutes to travel times

Service impact:
Some Murrays services travelling via the South Coast may be affected during these closure periods.

We recommend passengers allow extra travel time when planning their journey.

We appreciate your patience while these essential roadworks are carried out and will continue to monitor conditions to minimise disruption where possible.

System Outage 22 April 2026

We’ll be carrying out a scheduled system upgrade on Wednesday, 22 April from 8:00pm to approximately 4:00am (Thursday).

During this time:

  • Online bookings will be unavailable
  • Some services and updates may be temporarily affected

If you’re planning to travel, we recommend booking ahead of time.

QLD Services Update

Please be advised that all Queensland services are currently operating as scheduled.

Services to and from Chinchilla are now operating as normal. However, weather conditions in parts of Queensland remain unpredictable, and operations may be affected should conditions worsen.

Passengers travelling to or from Chinchilla are advised that the pickup and drop-off location has temporarily moved due to local conditions.

Temporary stop location:
QGC Carpark – Corner of Carmichael Street and Taylor Street, Chinchilla

Passengers travelling on affected services should proceed to the temporary stop location for boarding and arrival.

What to expect:

• All Queensland services are currently operating according to the published timetable
• Services to and from Chinchilla have resumed normal operation
• Weather conditions remain subject to change
• Our operations team continues to closely monitor floodwaters and road conditions across all routes

Service impact:

If conditions deteriorate and services are affected, passengers booked on impacted services will be contacted directly via email or SMS.

Services in and out of Chinchilla are diverted to Dalby due to floodwaters. Affected passengers will be contacted.

Scheduled Roadworks Notice Along The Hume Highway In Mittagong

Hume Motorway – Nattai River Bridge (Mittagong)

Please be advised that scheduled bridge and road work will take place on the Hume Motorway at the Nattai River Bridge, Mittagong from:

Monday 2 February to Friday 13 February 2026

What to expect:

  • A full northbound closure will be in place
  • Contraflow traffic conditions will allow vehicles to travel in both directions
  • Traffic controllers will be on site to assist motorists

Service impact:
Some Murrays Express services may be impacted during this period.

We recommend passengers allow extra travel time when planning their journey.

Road Closures On Warrego Highway

Due to scheduled roadworks, some services may experience delays from Friday 16 January to Monday 19 January, with ongoing roadworks continuing until April 2026.

Please allow an additional 30 minutes for travel in each direction during this period. We recommend planning ahead to ensure a smooth journey.
